Title: Rollovers for color choices going nuts, don't work
Post by: foxvox on 04/21/11 at 20:19:00
I just cleared my cache and noticed that when I go to a product page with a color choice and mouseover the colors, the screen blinks like crazy and the cursor jumps all over, etc. Tried it in both FF and Chrome. (Win 7)  It seems to be fluttering back and forth with the 'large' image and the color of the actual product does not change either by clicking the text or (trying to) click the color choice. The 'large' image color changes but the usual product image does not change.

Luckily, the correct color (chosen with the text/drop down menu) does get added to the cart.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Hope we can get it fixed quickly!

thanks,
:)
Kristen

Still broken for me.

No, you're right - it's still broken for me too. (I was looking at my premium shop, not my CPSHOP - D'OH!)

Any info on when this will be fixed? It can't be helping sales at all when the page is all jumpy and you can't see your selections!

thanks,
:)

yep. same problem here...seems to be that the thumbnail size for the other colors when you rollover is different from the default size so it causes the whole page to jump around and act crazy

Same here!!   >:(

And it make me wonder because the image size use to be bigger in my shop (8 - 10 months ago? A year? Not sure, it's been a while) than suddenly they only showed in the smaller size, regardless of my attempts to get the large size back.

Now it looks like the large size is trying to come back...  ??? ::) :P

I added the following to my style sheet and it seems to solve the issue, at least for me:

#mainimg   {
 width: 240px;
}

However if anyone knows what one needs to do to get the 360px images to load on the product page I would appreciate the help.

Thanks, evets! That's working for me too. Whew!  Sorry I can't help with the 360 one though!

In case anyone cares it looks like the why this is happening is because CP has the default product page image set at 240px and then in the JS they are using for the rollovers they have the images set at 350px. Sigh. I swear a 4 year old could code CP's stuff better and his/her twin could check it and make sure it actually works right. ::)

I was looking at doing this once and then got sidetracked and I forget where I was with it. If I remember I'll post it.

Thanks!!! I didn't even know about this and I got to fix it before I totally panicked.

Well at least now I know FINALLY why Google has screwed up my pagerank and listing status in the last month.  CPSHOP code is all jacked!

Try this:

#mainimg   {
width: 350px !important;
}

That worked for me for IE7. The image is a little pixelated in that browser, but FF is displaying the correct one.

where do I put that?!

Wherever you have styles setup for your template.  I use an external stylesheet, but you may have yours in the <head>

MARTY!  Where are you?!

I've been going through this stuff for a couple of days now, and I think I'm going to have to rewrite a bunch of the product page code entirely.  I think there's just too many recent major changes here to avoid it.

Yikes  :o

I hate coding.

Any updates on this?

Seems like it works fine in FF, but not IE.

Mine doesn't work anymore!  WTH?  Image shows but color swatches do not.

Sales are down, CP raises prices on products, and now is forcing credit card monthly fees when before it came from earnings.  This is some bullshit.  For real.

Title: Re: Rollovers for color choices going nuts, don't
Post by: Sally on 08/06/11 at 15:04:41
The choices are there and not jumping (except when I first put my cursor over it) but when I click on a different color choice, the choice won't "select" and the sample pic doesn't change.

Title: Re: Rollovers for color choices going nuts, don't
Post by: dreamwhisper on 08/06/11 at 15:19:13
Mine is actually working in IE7, 8 and 9 with my css fix. But, I'm still getting that js error noted in a different thread.

I've noticed even CPs user interface isn't working in some browsers.  I have to use Safari in some cases.  Seriously, they need some cross-browser testing. I'm beginning to think that they don't have the funds to pay someone to actually handle this stuff.

Post by: Marty on 08/08/11 at 08:51:02
I just uploaded a new version, that -- I think -- fixes the rollover issues, the product thumbnail sizing, and personalizable product text editing.

Please let me know if it works for you.

And note that this update still does not support personalizable image upload.  (Not sure when I'll be able to get that one to work -- lots of cross-domain security issues at work there.)

Thanks for the update Marty.  Oddly enough, now my images are pixelated like others were experiencing before  :-/

Once again, try 2.8a, and let me know if it fixes it for you.

Post by: Sally on 08/09/11 at 12:32:57
Where do I find the update? None of my shop admins have it -- they all say "your current version (2.7) is up to date." And I didn't find it on marty.net. Unless maybe I don't need it?

Thanks!

It's on marty.net, in the download area: http://www.marty.net/scripts/cpshop/dist/

You'll need your marty.net username and password to download it.

Title: Re: Rollovers for color choices going nuts, don't
Post by: foxvox on 08/14/11 at 11:56:41
On one small shop I have, the 28a update did not fix the mouseover/jumpy issue.

In a large shop I have (which I had used the previous 'fix' someone mentioned here), the mouseover/color changes still didn't work, plus the product images got all long and stretched out, so I had to revert back to 2.7.

Update: it's working in some shops, but still not that one. It's like it's trying to use the much large image, and I've told it to use a smaller width - it seems like the product height is hard-coded in some way so the width is as I've set it but the height is set by cp?  Going to play with it a little more, but any insight would be welcome too.

Another update: I had to take this out of the css override:

#mainimg   {
width: 240px;
}

Now the image is the right proportion, but 350 instead of the desired 240. *shrug* At least it works now, including the mouseovers.  It makes my product images wider than the rest of the shop, but at least I made my template expandable.

I don't know why this would be a problem in this shop, when this same style in another shop works just fine though.

hmmmm,
Kristen

Yes, these images are waaaay too big.  What is wrong with Cafepress?  Jesus.

I still went back to 2.7 as the 'keep shopping' links in the cart don't seem to be working like they used to - started a new thread about it here:

After the 2.8 update the mainimg acted huge and weird in both browsers.  I updated to 2.8a thinking that was a simple fix.  Still not working right.  I am trying to delete the css override code for the #mainimg  but my stores act weird still so I plugged it back in.

I hate the 350 px images inside my 750 px wide html pages so I changed it back to 240 px in the forced css override code for #mainimg.

This is seriously ridiculous.  Totally over it.

There's a bug in the latest version that causes this behavior. It will be resolved with the next version. Meanwhile I will email you a dev swf with a fix in place.

I updated to 2.8a today and the image on the product order page is now stretched way out of proportion...any ideas as to why? I reinstalled the old version which was working fine, so rigth now images look correct, but this is the page, and the image gets stretched vertically:

tshirtsbye2 - that's what happened to me as well, so I reverted back to the previous version, where the color rollovers don't work.

I was wondering if this 'glitch' had been fixed - anyone know?

I really want the color rollovers to work - especially since the holiday season is coming up quickly!

Thanks,
Kristen

Well, I don't know what changed, but I added the new update and my images are fine now, not elongated.  Just thought I'd share that for others who had the same trouble!

hmm I uploaded it after reading your post, but still having same issue...the preview images are stretched. Although my rolloevers are working fine with the old version....I think there was some fix earlier in this posting that I did...could that be why I am not able to update to the new script w/o images being stretched???

I've just updated one shop and the preview tee is elongated. Rollovers work. If anyone knows a fix for the sssttrrreeetttccchhh, please let me know -- thanks!

I slapped this into the CSS override in cpadmin, to force the 240 px images. Works fine now.

<style type="text/css">
<!--
div.inputArea{clear:both;padding-top:10px;}
#productAreaWidth{width:580px;}
#updatetextfront,#updatetextback{background-color:#88b723;}
#fb-root{display:none;}

#mainimg   {
width: 240px;
}
-->
</style>
