Title: CPShop in Wordpress
Post by: Suzzie on 06/03/09 at 12:12:22
I posted this in another thread but I figured it would have a better shot of being seen here.

Does anyone know a method, that can be explained step by step, of putting your cpshop content tag into a wordpress page? I'd rather have everything be uniform throughout, and the best way seems to be to scrap the cptemplate and use wordpress instead.

Problem is, I have no idea what I'm doing.  ;D I'm not worried about the sidebar, just the content tag.

If this kind of thing would require a widget/plugin/something to work, it's certainly an idea for someone to pursue... I know I'd be willing to pay a fee for it!

I too am very interested in integrating CPShop and Wordpress.  I am willing to pay for such an integration.  Please Marty, don't leave us hanging!

Unfortunately, I'm not a WordPress guy, so I really don't know much about it.

I have seen a lot of people with WordPress-based templates, though, so I know it's possible.

I started using wordpress and cpshop.  I do not integrate the two but I did have to hack the theme template and brought in my own css file too.  A lot of copying and pasting.

If you are successful, I would actually pay money to know how! A wp blog would be great for seo... integrating the two would be a big help! Good luck!!!

The closest thing I can get working myself since I am not a programmer is to use a plugin that puts my shop page on the menu of my WordPress site.

I use a plugin called Page Links To

You create a page, give it a title, and click on screen options on the top, click Page Links To box and then on the bottom of the page you can enter the URL of your shop.
I choose to make it open in a new window.

Here is my example, (don't laugh at my plain shop, lol, still setting it up and figuring it out)

On the top menu, see Flamin Design World, that is my CPshop link

I have asked on several message boards and Facebook groups and so far everyone says that you can't integrate cpshop with wordpress. I believe it can be done by someone who can make a custom plugin, but need a programmer and I don't have the money to hire one to work with Marty  :)

If someone else wants to share what they have done, it would be greatly appreciated.  :D

It is definitely possible using http://www.marty.net/cgi/marty/board/messageboard?board=tutorials&action=display&num=1024401648

I have mine integrated with WordPress as a wrapper of the cpshop content using that tutorial, but giving a step by step process is a little difficult because not all WP sites are alike. If you want each product as a post though, that's a whole different ball game.

I use a WP framework called Genesis (link in my footer) so my process would be different than a stand alone theme. http://adreamwhisperer.com/shop/ is a work in progress as it isn't my main focus and I haven't added new designs to CP for quite a long time.

Thank you for that post Dreamwhisperer.

I can't get into my flamincatdesigns account, it keeps saying it doesn't exist and I tried sending the forgot my password and it wont send me a reset??

Anyway, I wanted to edit my post to delete my link above.

There is one link on the website above in the side bar. Since I couldn't get it to work right I didn't make it my main site.

So right now it looks really plain and icky.

Have you ever had any CPU issues with your host running wordpress and cpshop?

It's too late for me to get this set up right for the holiday season now. Maybe I will give another try in January and get this set up.

Your site looks awesome dreamwhisperer.

Thanks! I run on a VPS with at least 30 other installs of WordPress (development sites), which handles it most of the time. However, I have to say that CPShop does cause CPU issues even on the VPS. Lately, it seems to have settled down a bit, but my cache settings are now set to no limit and to not refresh unless I tell it to. I still think it is high, but the WordPress Caching plugin actually helps.
