I've been looking around the forum hoping to find a list of things you can do with index.cgi.images the way there is for template tags and filters but I haven't seen anything.

I figured out how to use index.cgi.images to replace a section image but is it possible to use it to insert a picture for a section that has no thumbnail?  if so what would go in the place of the cafepress image location?

I'm using cpfilter_literal and a section I'm bringing in had no thumbnail.  I want to make one and have it show up on my section thumbnails page.  Is there a way to do that without coding the entire page?

The way I used that file to replace things in my shop was to go to the page I wanted to change something on and find the exact area I needed to change. Then I would find what was unique or never changing in that area. e.g. if it already had an ID or title name or something that was unique to it. And copy and paste the whole line/html I wanted to change making sure to include that unique element. Just so I knew I was targeting right.

With some things there wasn't really any constant but the descriptive text so I had to include that in my copy/pasting even if that does make it less flexible to changes in the description.

But if you go to the page you want to change something on and go View Source on the page you'll then be looking at what cpshop outputs and what you need to target is cpshop's output. So then do a Find for the title of the 1 section you want to change the appearance of and go from there. It nay be that the only unique thing about it is the title underneath the thumbnail.

e.g. (very simplified)

Code:
*||||<img src="http://www.cafepress.com.com/thumbnail.jpg"><td>The unique name of this section</td>||||<img src="http://www.mywebsite.com.com/mythumbnail.jpg"><td>The unique name of this section</td>

Or if there is absolutely no cafepress image, not even a blank transparent one. Then just look at how sections with thumbnails appear in the source code and replicate it for your target section, by tacking on the image stuff before the unique title stuff.

Best of luck.

Ah okay, that helps.  I discovered the thread about things you can do with that file last night and I used it to add in a row of "save to kaboodle" type links on the product page.    I took a wild guess and just typed in the text I wanted it to appear after and then the links I wanted to add as a table and it worked!  I will definitely try your suggestion.  Thanks so much for the reply!
