Thumbnails for each design?

Hi guys,

I don't know if what I want to do is possible but it doesn't seem like it should be to difficult.

I've created the cptemplate.html which is really the only template I use for my entire site.

In the cptemplate.html page I've included the <[content]> tag and everything works fine.

It lists my 10 stores like this.

Store1
Store2
Store3
Store4
Store5
etc......

I'd like for the links to the stores to appear in 3 columns instead of just one. I'd also like a thumbnail image representing the design of each store to appear just above the store name as well. Is this possible?

Thanks.

OK, I found where you can adjust the amount of columns but I still don't know how to get a thumbnail image of each design to appear just above each store name.

Thanks for the help.

I could be wrong...but, I believe that is something you have to do manually.

There's two ways to do that.

If you happen to have a premium store, then it's easy.  Use the CafePress system to add sections, and then cpshop will use the thumbnails from those sections.

Now, if you're using basic shops (which you probably are), then you do have to enter the code manually.  The best way to do it is to enter HTML into the store titles.

cpshop removes HTML tags from store titles when it displays them, everywhere except in the store listing.  So you can safely place tags in with each title, without worrying about them screwing up the rest of your store.

For example, say you have a store called "Mean Taco Monsters" (I just had Chevy's for lunch, can you tell?).

Your store title might show something like this right now:

Mean Taco Monsters

Instead, you'd change it to this:

<center><img src="/images/store/meantaco.gif" height=50 width=100 border=0><br>Mean Taco Monsters</center>

In the store listing, it would appear with the HTML intact, but everywhere else the HTML tags would all be removed, leaving you with:

Mean Taco Monsters

Make sense?  Let me know if it doesn't.

Hi there,

For some reason my store is not working properly.  The first page is displaying the product sections fine, but it also displays the text from the thumbnail template.  Then, when you click on a section, it doesn't show any thumbnails.  Can anybody help?

Which thumbnails were you expecting to show up?  You don't have any products in your CafePress store:

Hi Marty,

I'm not sure what you mean by that, because under each section in www.cafepress.com/buygambiaplus there are a ton of products... shirts, calendars, etc.

Am I missing something here?  I'm quite new to this, so maybe I'm not doing something right.

Oh, okay.  I see what you're saying Marty.  The two test sections that were there were removed because the test graphics were copyrighted materials.  They were appearing fine in the CafePress shop before, but even then the thumbnails were not showing up in my CPShop.  It's as if CPShop was treating the sections as thumbnails.  I'm probably doing something improperly.

I'll just throw some other images up there, then, and we'll see if it works now.

Thanks

Hmm... now nothing is showing up -- not even the sections.  Beforehand, the sections were displaying, but the thumbnails were not.  Now, nothing is showing... Any ideas?

This is terribly frustrating.  I can see that this product can do wonderful things.  I just have no idea how to use it.  It would be great if there were a step-by-step guide (like the installation guide) that would show how to put together a sophisticated store (or different types of stores), because I'm losing my mind trying to figure out how to use this admin panel.

Don't get me wrong, I think this is a great product.  I'm just saying that it could really use a facelift when it comes to user-friendliness.  I would have almost preferred writing a custom CF site by this time, rather than battle this interface.

Nothing is coming up at the moment because the entire CafePress site is down for maintenance.

When the site comes back up, the data will be available again.  There's no point in working on cpshop until that time.

Looks like the site's back up.  You should be able to work on it now.

Cool    Looks good Marty.

It appears to be working now.  Part of it was CafePress issues.

The other part, which still seems to be behaving a bit quirky is that the "thumbnails page" text is appearing on the "section page" as well as the "thumbnails page".

Is that because I didn't define a separate "thumbnails template"?...
