Hi I want to make my shops optimized for the search engines but I have found that I am limited because I only have one template for each shop (multiple shops). Is there way to create a template for each store created within Cpshop. Or a way to optimize each newly created store within cpshop.

You should be able to use the template filter to accomplish something along those lines.

Example:

cpfilter_template:mytemplate.html

So are you saying that I can create say shirttemplate.com and designAtemplate.com etc.

While I have you here. What is Alias? does this make it so when the store numbers change it will continue to be able to locate the store? I havent tried it yet but i think i need to if it what i think it is. Cause last time i added a shop to a filter store it messed all my links up. Is that what alias is for? to prevent that?

Also, how do i tell if people are adding things to the car or making it to the billing stage. Is that just an unknown? I am a little perplexed that I have had over 300 unique visitors and no sales. I hope its all working.

Yes, that should work, template-wise, and yes, that's exactly what the alias does.

There is no add-to-cart tracking in cpshop, because I'm not allowed to intercept transactions through the form to the cart.  Hopefully we (as in CP) will be able to add some tracking to the shop system itself.

And more than likely your store is working fine, if it works for you personally.  But you can't expect your sales to go through the roof immediately.  Amazon has millions of products, covering every conceivable topic and product, and they only get 1 or 2 sales per 100 unique visitors.  Give yourself time, and just keep on working at improving your product selection and your marketing.

you mention in your filter guide that template extensions must end in one of the following extensions: .htm, .html, .txt, .tmpl, .tpl, .template

I know it doesn't include php in the list but i have to ask anyway. What about a php template?

I'm not 100% sure about the implementation, though if you're using a .php template, you'll definitely have to reference the template as a URL, otherwise the PHP interpreter won't work.

Try something like this:

cpfilter_template:http://www.mysite.com/template.php

I don't know if it'll work, but it might.
