I need some help with the filters in cpshop.

I've read the guide on filters and I understand that if I want all the caps I have listed on a page I use cpfilter_name:~cap~ but where do I use this.

The filters page put it in the store ID field in the admin screen, well I tried that and failed..

Am I losing it? or can someone point me in the right direction....

cheers

In the storeid field, you can put things like:

*,cpfilter_name:~cap~

then have the name be:
Caps

and the alias be:
caps

Then you can go to your store and click the new Caps link and it'll bring up your caps...

That's IF you set up your wildcard correctly.  You must put all your sections with products in that wildcard section at the top of your storeid list.  for me it was  something like (b/c I have a premium store)
astphotos.111111, astphotos.2222222, etc.

then, whenever I use * in my storeids, it calls for all those sections.

Does that make sense, or is it late and I'm rambling

I Think I'm getting somewhere, here's what I've done so far.

In the wildcard StoreID's field, I have listed all my sections like, standrewsstore.111111, etc..

in the storeID field I then have *,cpfilter_name:~cap~

name = Caps
alias = caps

in the next storeID field I put

*,cpfilter_name:~mug~
name=Mugs
alias=mug

do I then call up a page with the storename=caps in the url or what?

I tried the above and got someone elses caps listed not mine. Same for mugs

What link were you refering to that I should click on? I don't see any new links..

Cheers for your help.

Cool!  Yep, I"m working on a ton of these aliases in my store to help organize and also for search engines.  I want things like

myplace.com/store/cpshop.cgi/mugs
/grey_tshirts
/jr_raglans

etc...
It's nice when you get the hang of it, and you can combine certain ones, like

*,cpfilter_name:Mug,cpfilter_sort:new2old

and that will list your newer mugs first...

One more question.

I'm doing a ton of these filters at the moment and When I try this one:

*,cpfilter_cost:~20.00,cpfilter_sort:productcostdown

It works, but it lists the sections at the top of the page before listing the products.

Is there a way to stop these appearing?

See here for an example.

Cheers

Marty,

This seems to have resurfaced agin.

When I use the following filter

*,cpfilter_cost:~20.00,cpfilter_sort:productcostdown,cpfilter_template:new.tpl

to produce this page

http://www.cityofstandrews.co.uk/cgi-bin/store/cpshop.pl?storecrc=under20

It puts the sections at teh top of the list.

I think it fixed itself after I uploaded the latest update, and the sections were gone, but I just created a new section today and its now showing that one.

Any ideas?

Stuart.

I'm having the problem where it puts the sections in the beginning also when using the cpfilter cost. Very odd.
It doesn't happen in my www.SandcastleTees.com site but it does in the Turtle Homes one.

Also, is it supposed to be entered like this:
cpfilter_cost:~10.99,*
or this: *,cpfilter_cost:~10.99
?

Marty, this is a strange one, perhaps when you get time you can take a look at whats happening.

Its a very inconsistant bug.

when using the following filter

*,cpfilter_cost:~20.00,cpfilter_sort:productcostdown,cpfilter_template:new.tpl

to produce this page

http://www.cityofstandrews.co.uk/cgi-bin/store/cpshop.pl?storecrc=under20

I get strange sections appearing.

When I first put this filter in it was displaying every section in my store at the top of the page before listing the products.

Then without doing anything it appeared to fix itself, and the sections were not showing.

Although thinking back I did put the last update on the server, but I couldn't tell you if that fixed it or if it was working right before and I didn't check.

I then created a few more sections, (within existing sections) and now it shows one of these at the start of the list, and not the others.

Can't think of anything that i did different  on the sections to make one appear and not the others. but I'd rather have none of them appearing on this page :)

It also seems I'm not the only one that has this problem.

Cassie, I think it should be * first, but don't quote me on this.

Cheers
