Store IDs Question

1) Down in the admin program where we set Store IDs... where it askes for:

    Store ID:
    Name:
    Alias:
    Keywords:
    Description:
...etc...

    (a) I can use something like: Store ID: myaffiliate/XXXXXX, myaffiliate/YYYYYY  -- to register my affliate stores - right?

    (b) These terms (variables), Alias, Keywords, Description, etc. - can we grab them out to print them when the contents come back?   I tried to use <[caption]> and that didn't work. Is there a way to put values in here that will follow the link so it prints out when the other tags are filled?

    (c) How are these input terms best utilized - do they get printed out somewhere besides the sidebar?

Thanks so much,
jac

Sorry, but I don't quite understand about half of what you're asking, so, for the moment I'll recommend you check out this post:

And then reply with whatever questions are still unresolved.

Thanks,

a) Simply, I would like to group similar store sections together under
one Store ID entry in the admin program with something like this:

Store ID: store1/sectionid_1, store1/sectionid_2, store1/sectionid_3

... (I guess I am just asking if I can connect
them with commas - I should just try it)

b) I also would like to use the Description tag <[description>] (usually
used in the meta tag)
to print out something about that particular store
when the store contents get generated.

What I have done to test this out:

       (1) I cleared out the "Default Store Description" under program options. I was thinking it might have precedence.

       (2) I added a description to one of my Store ID entries.

       (3) I cleared the cache, of course... and then I went back to my page and ran the program so that store came up.  That part worked fine.

       (4) But, when I looked at the description meta tag (with View Source on the HTML page) it is empty .. it looks like:

                <meta name="description" content="">

... and yes, on the template the tag looks like:

                <<meta name="description" content="<[description]>">

       (5) If I go back to the Program Options (the first section in the Admin Program) and put something in for "Default Store Description" - then it works.

       (6) Lastly, the check box under that store is unchecked - the one that reads:

Sidebar:  | | this entry should not appear in the sidebar or on the default homepage

....  just in case that matters.

So, I was wondering if I can change the "description" tag depending on which store I select.  I tried and it did not work - did I do something wrong?

Gee wizz ...I hope I am being clearer..

Thanks so much,
jac

OK, I have checked it some more: it's real simple:  I want to be able
to control what gets outputted in the <[description]> tag .  Other
than using what is written in the "Default Store Description" it seems
not to work.  That is, I am looking for a different <[description]> for each
store I define in the Store ID sections.

Thanks,

OK, Just a note:  I was able to get it going but I had to play around with (a) turning off the javascript, (b) taking off my non-cpshop url as my shop homepage, and (c) removing my cafepress shop name from the dummy store field.  I am not sure if any of these things did the trick - or what.  But I did learn that getting the <[description]> tag to print for each selected store is not easy to do.  Perhaps I am missing something?

Anyway, thanks for your attention,
jac
