Hi..

Im very new to all this and need a little help. Im using Dreamweaver to create my template. But when I add images of my own they dont seem to appear on IE. I think I need to upload the images to my Server and change the links on Dreamweaver so it loads the images from my server not my PC. The question is "Where do I upload the images on the server(ie. the folder)? and What do I have to change on Dreamweaver to get these images live?

Thanx for you time....

Ricky

PS. View www.khanda-clothing.com to see what I mean.. There supposed to images in the empty boxes at the bottam..

Right now you're linking to the images as they appear on your own computer.

<img src="file:///C|/Documents%20and%20Settings/Reken/My%20Documents/My%20Pictures/kandalogo.PNG" width="290" height="146">

That syntax is only going to work when you're testing a page locally.  It won't work when it's on the server.

There isn't any one way to reference images, but here's a foolproof way:

  • Create a directory at the root level of your website called "images".
  • FTP your images into that directory (and make sure you upload them in binary mode, not ASCII/Text mode).
  • Reference your images with a fully-qualified URL, so the tag will work anywhere.
You also may want to follow these tips:

  • If you're worried about cross-browser compatibility, limit your website images to GIF and JPG images.  PNGs don't work in many older browsers, like certain versions of Internet Explorer.
  • Name your images in all lowercase (.gif instead of .GIF), to avoid issues with Unix and Linux servers.
In the end, your tag should look something like this:

<img src="http://khanda-clothing.com/images/kandalogo.gif" width="290" height="146" border="0" alt="Kanda Logo">
