Sidebar: Categories or Section Headers possible?

Is there a way to have the sidebar navigation divided up into Categories or Section Headers that the admin can create?

Something like:
-------------
Category One
(store id)
(store id)
(store id)

Category Two
(store id)
(store id)
(store id)
-------------

Where "Category" is just an organizational division of particular (store id)s. The would be non-linking headers for the category/section.

It doesn’t seem possible to do this with the store ids admin area at this time.

Perhaps something can be added to the script so that if you enter the phrase "make_category" in the store id field, then whatever you type in the name field would be the Category/Section title.

I probably wouldn't add that kind of feature until I could think of a more elegant implementation.  (Especially since it's still possible to hardcode that sort of thing if you want to be really specific about its formatting.)

It's an interesting idea, though.  I'll think about it.

Thanks for your response.

I've hacked lots of scripts, but I can't see where to get started on this...

If you ditch the default sidebar, you can set up any sort of navigation that you'd like in your templates:

or

http://www.theretrovert.com/cgi-bin/cpshop.cgi?i=mm_ts

I use server-side includes for these, so there's just one file that needs to be changed if I should decide to change my sidebars.  Well, actually, I use two sidebars, so it's two files .

Ditch the sidebar and build my own navigation. That would do it! - thanks.

Nice looking shops, by the way.

Ditching the sidebar kind of takes the whole easy admin and quick changes out of the picture.
