Breadcrumbs tag help

Is there something I can modify so that when I use the <[breadcrumbs]> tag, the code it generates doesn't start with a <p in the tag?

I want to use my own "lead in" links before the breadcrumbs and keep them all on the same line in my template.

Well, it's a <p> tag with a class name, so you can use stylesheets to make it behave however you want.

Really? I know I can change font attributes through a style sheet, but is it possible to erase a paragraph tag through a style sheet?

What I'd like is this:

[my text] >> <[breadcrumb]>

What the output looks like is this:

[my text] >>
<[breadcrumb]>

I'd like it to appear on the same line but the <[breadcrumb]> tag automatically inserts a paragraph tag. That's what I'm trying to work around (if it's possible. Maybe not?).

Nevermind. I've found the relative positioning style tag. Now to go play

I'm having no luck with this.

I've tried placing the following code in my template, my style sheet, and in the CSS override field in the admin screen and it doesn't seem to be affecting anything.

<style type="text/css">
cpshopbreadcrumb
{
position:relative;
left:100px;
}
</style>

FYI, that's not the final position I want it in but I just want to affect it in *some* way so I can play around with the numbers.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Try looking up display:inline.

Woo hooooooo!!!! Got it! Thanks Marty! When I was doing searches for css to align text I didn't come across that one.

FWIW, I figured out how to do it my way too. My problem was that I was leaving out the "." before  "c*pshopbreadcrumb" (minus the aseterisk) in the style definition. However, with my way, it wasn't displaying consistently across all browsers. In some it aligned the way I wanted it and in others it was a pixel or two off.

BUT, with your display:inline suggestion it works consistently across the browsers I tested.

FYI, for anyone who's interested in trying this, it's not enough to add display:inline to the c*pshopbreadcrumb style. You'll also have to add a paragraph tag with the c*pshopbreadcrumb class encompassing whatever text you want to show inline.

EXAMPLE

Code:
<p class="c*pshopbreadcrumb"> YOUR TEXT HERE <[c*pshopbreadcrumb]> </p>

Then your text will appear on the same line as the breadcrumbs.

(Note: Remove the "*" from c*pshopbreadcrumb for this to work.)

Thanks again Marty!!
