I want to have a section about my new designs and about my hottest selling designs....
I am currently using filters to do so.
I am using the wildcard to select each section example  *8= storeid.sectionnumber
then using the filter to string designs together.
example *8,*9,*10, = hottest_designs

but when I do that the sections dont show up, but every product listed in the sections does...I would rather have the 3 sections show up then folks can select the products in the sections...does anyone know how to do that?

you can see what I mean by going to http://www.seasquirrelproductions.net/cgi-bin/store/cpshop.cgi/whats_new

Thanks

This is still my #1 feature request for  a filter to show by section so I can also showcase my latest designs and not products.  Marty is there any way to do this? Hack? Future release? Pluuuuuuuuuuuuease

Just out of curiosity, does cpfilter_literal not allow you to do this?

cpfilter_literal, storeid/sectionnumber1, storeid/sectionnumber2, storeid/sectionnumber3

or

cpfilter_literal, 8*, 9*, 10*

that would work, but it wouldn't be dynamic... I've wanted something that acts like this..

cpfilter_literal,*.all,cpfilter_newest:30

It doesn't like that combo and ends up pulling old sections which seems completely random.  Is there another filter combo to try getting the output I'm looking for?

Ah, I get it.  You want the 30 latest sections.

That's pretty tricky -- it'd have to be smart enough to know the difference between sections with products and sections with only other sections.

It would also make things more complicated if it was supposed to check all store IDs in an installation, and not just those from a single store ID.

Okay, I'll think about it.

a single store id would work beautifully too.  Even if it could just pull from a parent section which lets say has all the sections (new designs) that I want to show.  Just being able to show newest sections with cp_literal from 1 parent section would do the trick.

IE: shop>sectionparent>[newest20]sections>products

I hope that makes sense.
