question about columns filter

I've been trying for days to figure out the columns filter, and figured I should ask about it here before I throw my laptop out the window.

All I'm trying to do is to get the number of columns in my CPshop to match what I have in my regular CafePress store. I have large thumbnails for subsections, (two across - three breaks the template) but want to keep my product pages as three across.

I tried using the column filter as */sectionnumber,cpfilter_columns:2 . It makes the section appear in the storefront. I tried putting the filter in another shop id area, but then it adds a link to the sidebar.

Please please please tell me that it's somehow possible to control the number of columns in a specific section within a single store.

Nope, no way to do that right now.  The only way is to create a Store ID entry for each top level section, and to add the cpfilter_columns:2 filter to each.

I may someday have a section-by-section override, but there isn't one right now.
