When i read the threads on this forum i always feel like I'm missing some basics.

Here's my current struggle that makes me feel inept:

how do I get my sortorder.txt file to work??

I've added in my custom html to sortorder.txt to test it out (once it works I'll use divs etc.)

<h3>bibs</h3>
73 #Bib

<h3>t-shirts</h3>
69 #Infant/Toddler t-shirt

<h3>onesies</h3>
72 #Infant Creeper

What type of filter do I need to use to get this to work?

Thanks!

Oops, read sortorder as hooks at first (Duh!) Anyway, you should just need to uplaod your sortorder.txt file to where all your other cpshop files are (no special folder needed unlike hooks). No filter needed. Make sure it's named appropriately for whatever your cpshop.cgi file is named (i.e. cpshop.cgi.sortorder.txt).

Also, you need to have the cpshop.cgi.sortorder.txt file selected in cpadmin under Thumbnail File Options -> Thumbnail Sort Order

Sort Order allows you to sort/order the thumbnails on a page.

BurnTees:

>What does sortorder.txt do?

It allows you to sort/order your thumbnails and add in HTML to specific places.

So if i have all of my thumbnails listed on one page, I can use sortorder.txt to

A) have the thumbnails listed by product type
B) add in customized HTML in specific locations, and even on certain conditions.
ex.

Code:
<h2>Bibs</h2>
73

<h2>Infant/Toddler t-shirt</h2>
69

<h2>Infant Creeper</h2>
72

"73" refers to the product "Bibs."  And so if we looked at my page, all of the thumbnails would be

A) ordered first by all the Bibs, then all the T-shirts, then all the Creeprs.

B) At the beginning of each group would be the title with heading size 2.

Does that answer your question?
Make sure you set cpshop (thumbnail page options) to "preset in index.cgi.sortorder.txt" otherwise it won't work.

Does anyone know how to use sortorder.txt to sort SECTIONS??
