Customization of Navigation

Alright so I've managed to figure everything out on my own thus far, except now I'm starting to customize the template while the shop is up, and I've come to a bit of a halt.

Right now I'm using the basic template, obviously, and I noticed that it has the entire navigation listed on the left-hand side. (In text)

For the basic template see:
http://www.chestarmor.com/cgi/store/armorshop.cgi

Now, I want to remove that mess on the left and just link everything with thumbnail icons.

Like this site: http://www.onehorseshy.com/

There's no navigation, only organized sections of thumbnail pictures.

I've included a "blueprint" of what I want my site to end up as. I would like the whole top area to remain constant throughout the website and the actual cp store. (The top area consisting of everything from the "View Cart" down to the category buttons.

Since I'm close to a complete newb at this, how would I go about doing it?

Many thanks!

Can you do basic html? You'll have to go in to your cpanel and edit the homepage template. that's how I'd do it... not sure if there is an easier option.

Also, to have your homepage be just your basic url www.chestarmor.com (instead of with all the cgi stuff), you need to follow one of the options here:

Wow I forgot all about those custom HTML commands for the shop. ><

Anyway, I removed the sidebar, and now it's just the main content like I wanted; however, how would I organize it to be just thumbnail pictures under the main categories?

I'm assuming the shop can't do that, so I have to just remove each category's description (to reduce clutter), then go in and manually-add the thumbnail pictures with a link to that product's page; each time I add a new product?

As for the homepage thing, I guess I'll do that, and just add in the "most popular" and "most recent" categories.

Bumping myself; I really need assistance here.

I just need someone to tell me the process of getting all my shirt links into the form of thumbnails; plain and simple.

I have a few questions. Do you have section thumbnails in your cafepress shop?
Have you placed your info in the store ids section of cpshop Admin?

I managed to get the shop working correctly; currently working on getting the homepage to convert to the shop itself.

Now, as for the thumbnails, no I don't have section thumbnails for my actual cafe press shop; I thought the standard layout was the only way to do it.

in the cafepress Sections and Products
Click the section.
Go to the section info tab
Under section thumbnail Click upload image or select image.
Click save
REpeat for each section that shows on the storefront
Go to your cafepress shop.
If it shows clear the cache in cpshop and verify it looks the same.

I hope this helps

Oh no, no, that isn't the problem. xD
Thank you for the advice anyway though.

I managed to figure out one half of the problem on my own.

Now the only problem is this:
Go to my cafepress website:
http://www.cafepress.com/chestarmor

See how the design is set up?
(It's a blank HTML script to replace the basic content styling with the styling from onehorseshy.com's, however none of the images or titles are actually there)

Now, the problem is, when the CPShop takes the information from my Cafe Press Store, it is not recognizing any custom HTML.

http://www.chestarmor.com/cgi/store/cpshop.cgi
See how it appears to be the basic script and styling there, as opposed to my custom script on my Cafe Press Shop?

Why is CPShop not recognizing my custom HTML on the Cafe Press Shop?

It looks like this is what you are trying to do in your cafepress shop

Code:
Catergory Name:<br/>
<a href="section url"><img src="url for the image"></a>
<a href="section url"><img src="url for the image"></a>
<a href="section url"><img src="url for the image"></a>
<a href="section url"><img src="url for the image"></a>
<a href="section url"><img src="url for the image"></a>

Once you get your code correct on your cafepress storefront
You also need to put this info in your store homepage options in cpshop admin.

Sweet, that's exactly what I needed.
It's working perfectly now; however I've got ONE more cautionary question:

If I put the category links in and image thumbnails in correctly, then won't my own website (chestarmor.com) link back to the cafepress shop (cafepress.com/chestarmor) each time you click on a link?

I understand that I need to create a page on my website for every section on my own, but how, then, would I be able to even have CPShop working at all, if I'm just replacing the Cafepress links with my own?

"Illustrated":
ChestArmor.com (click) "Section 1"  (redirect) Cafepress Shop Section 1.

Example

On Cafepress

Code:
Catergory Name:<br/>
<a href="http://www.cafepress.com/ChestArmor/6721697"><img src="http://logo.cafepress.com/8/17274691.6723528.jpg"></a>
<a href="section url"><img src="url for the image"></a>
<a href="section url"><img src="url for the image"></a>
<a href="section url"><img src="url for the image"></a>
<a href="section url"><img src="url for the image"></a>

In the code above "http://www.cafepress.com/ChestArmor/6721697" causes it to link to your cafepress site section

On CPShop
[code]
Catergory Name:<br/>
<a href="http://www.chestarmor.com/cgi/store/cpshop.cgi/games"><img src="http://logo.cafepress.com/8/17274691.6723528.jpg"></a>
<a href="section url"><img src="url for the image"></a>
<a href="section url"><img src="url for the image"></a>
<a href="section url"><img src="url for the image"></a>
<a href="section url"><img src="url for the image"></a>
[code]

In the code for cpshop "http://www.chestarmor.com/cgi/store/cpshop.cgi/games" causes the thumbnail to your cpshop site section.

Tutor Tanith ( http://www.tutortanith.com/createImage_link.htm ) may be able to help you more with getting your thumbnails linked like you want them.

Somehow I've managed to figure it out on my own.

But thank you for the code template; I'll certainly use it.

For some reason I was trying to hard, thinking I had to create a page for every part of every product, yet the shop provides that for me.

I feel stupid, but either way, problem solved. Thanks!
