Installation Problems on Win XP

My goal has been to transfer what's already on my existing cpshop @ kidcudistore completely over to the new website @ kidcudistore.com.  I used Marty's guide with the ten steps and got stuck.

Step one:  So I downloaded the installation file which didn't include cpshop.cgi or cpadmin.cgi, only cpshop.pl and cpadmin.  However I figured both were the same as long as I had a cpshop.pl.config in the same folder.

Step two:  I made this by copying the html from the sample template provided:

<!--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

   Variables appear in this format: <[variablename]>

AVAILABLE VARIABLES:
   Find the complete list here:

<meta name="description" content="Sell Kid Cudi T-shirts, Kid Cudi Apparel, Kid Cudi Gear, Kid Cudi Gifts, Kid Cudi Clothes for fans who enjoyed the Man on the Moon or know Cudi from his first hit single Day N Nite">

     <tr>
           <td valign=top width=140><[sidebar]></td>
           <td width=20>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</td>
           <td width=1 bgcolor="#000000"><div style="width:1px;"></div></td>
           <td width=20>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</td>
           <td valign=top>
                 <center>
                 <font face="arial,helvetica,verdana" size=6><b><i>The cpshop Demo Store</i></b></font>
                 <p>
                 <[content]>
                 </p>
                 </center>
           </td>
     </tr>
</table>
</body>
</html>

<!-- Start of StatCounter Code -->
<script type="text/javascript">
var sc_project=5195766;
var sc_invisible=1;
var sc_partition=31;
var sc_click_stat=1;
var sc_security="a6ce44f8";
</script>

<script type="text/javascript"
src="http://www.statcounter.com/counter/counter_xhtml.js"></script><noscript><div
class="statcounter"><a title="wordpress statistics"
class="statcounter"
href="http://www.statcounter.com/wordpress.org/"><img

alt="wordpress statistics" /></a></div></noscript>
<!-- End of StatCounter Code --></p>

</body>
</html>

So I obviously didn't completely do my html on this section because I just want to reproduce my website already on cafepress.com

Step Three: Skipped...already renamed.

Step Four:  I included the script
<script src="http://www.kidcudistore.com/cgi-bin/store/cpshop.pl"></script> in my cafepress Premium shop Store Description box.

Step Five:  I set my admin pw on cpadmin.pl

Step Six: I uploaded the scripts, language files, the html template, and all the other important stuff to kidcudistore.com/cgi-bin/store and made sure it had the right restrictions (chmod).

- I don't know where to point cpshop.pl and cpadmin.pl for the correct location of perl.  I have never installed perl on my computer or any server.  This is where I get lost.
- I don't know how to check if they are in ASCII mode.

Step Seven:  I made the subdirectories

Step Eight:  I could never get to this step, 404 error.

Thanks in advance for your help.  I'd be happy to clarify if anything doesn't make sense.

Your server needs to have perl installed.  That's one of the prerequisites for running cpshop.

If you haven't installed perl already, I recommend you lookup ActivePerl, and install it immediately.  There's a guide that might be helpful here:

I installed perl from that site,

- created a file called test.pl to place in my cgi-bin/store root

- changed the address of perl.exe in the cpadmin, chshop scripts to where I have perl and changed it to: #!C:\perl\bin

Still not working, any other suggestions?

Were you able to get cptest.pl to work?

Sorry, but unfortunately I don't have any other suggestions.  As I said earlier, having a server that already supports Perl-CGI is a prerequisite for running cpshop.  I don't really know much about configuring Windows XP as a web server.

Now might be a good time to try Googling your way through the situation.

Marty was kind enough to send me this link...

http://blogs.iis.net/wadeh/archive/2009/04/13/running-perl-on-iis-7.aspx

We are running a Win-based system with IIS 7 and the "handling" must be set up manually.

The process is straight forward and at least moved us to the point were we can access the cpadmin.pl file now.

We are having issues loggin in, but attempting to troubleshoot now.
