From their documentation:

Our CGI service also does not support the creation of socket connections. This prevents scripts and applications from creating real-time links to other servers (such as outgoing mail servers).

Thanks to Eric C. for the heads up.

Edit: Some people have stated that they've been able to get cpshop to "kinda" work on GoDaddy, though not in a perfect way.  I believe it is possible on a GoDaddy dedicated server, among other things.

Anyway, just wanted to make this a little more clear.

I don't know if lambasting GoDaddy's service is really what this board is for.  However, it remains true that GoDaddy does not support cpshop, and, in that respect, I must agree, they leave something to be desired.

It's funny to see how many people agree on this subject...I don't, but it's definitely interesting.

Ughhhh why didn't I check here before signing up for 3 mos hosting with GoDaddy......any chance this has changed? I actually uploaded everything and got to admin, but when I go to save, it wont save - just comes back empty. I thought this was because I tested the script on another site of mine before starting the new hosting.....I hope I'm right.....any ideas?

Answered my own question. GoDaddy still is NOT compatible with CPShop, I called them to confirm. Got a refund for the hosting, thank goodness!

Wicked thanks! I was on hold with GoDaddy about to purchase their Deluxe Linux Package, and then came across this while waiting. I haven't had any problems with them on any other issues, but this would have stunk.

Off to check out the other options. Many thanks.

Hi I am brand new here and am looking for hosting, I emailed godaddy, and this is the response I  got after signing up, I learned about the trouble with godaddy,

"Thank you for contacting customer support. Please note that you will not have Perl access on our ASP based hosting plans and would need to switch to a CGI based plan. "

any ideas if I will be able to use cp now?

The only GoDaddy accounts that support cpshop are their dedicated server accounts.  Any other hosting plan does NOT support cpshop.

Well, I am a reseller under godaddy and I'm running CP Shop on a Godaddy Delux Linux account with no problems thus far.  I just updated yesterday to 2.5 and that seems ok thus far as well.  My whole site is under heavy construction right now but here's the link. http://www.dreamwhisperhosting.com/cgi/shop/designshop.pl.

It is a permissions issue.  Since I've been working on so many things, I haven't gone back to play with the permissions to see exactly what the proper configuration is.  The only thing I can say is that, at least as a reseller, Godaddy hosting does work and it does not have to be on a dedicated or virtual dedicated server.

If you do visit the link, I'd appreciate feedback on the display since I've been having some cross browser issues.  Once I solve that, I'll clean up the html and css.  Thanks in advance.

If you check out the other thread on this topic, you'll see that 3 of us are running on GoDaddy. http://www.marty.net/cgi/marty/board/messageboard?board=webhosts&action=display&num=1175655335
